Autopatrol

[edit]
Good day reviewer, I would like to register for autopatrol due to the extensive edits that I contribute to. I mostly dabble in SVG maps, in so far have garnered approximately 2,811 edits in the last 5 years. Notably extensively updating conflict and geopolitical maps; Ukraine, ASEAN, and most known for the author of the current Syrian Civil War Map (Syrian Civil War map (ISW-CTP).svg). Other than that I've also uploaded multiple historical images relating to ASEAN and Indonesia; both from my personal archives and government works. The main reason for this request was mainly to help another user in updating a current event map, the Yemeni Civil War.svg map. Recently pertaining fast changes, the user has since actively updated the map alone and I could help in rectifying border changes. Thank you. Kaliper1 (talk) 00:23, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Contributions seem OK, a few copyright issues from recent months on talk page (including one whose metadata pointed to AFP). Abzeronow (talk) 02:49, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, uploading many photos through the script, and sometimes facing "API error ratelimited: You've exceeded your rate limit. Please wait some time and try again" - as I understand - autoconfirmed role will increase my limits, thank you. Globustut (talk) 20:41, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at your latest batch of uploads, description is missing. I'm definitely more willing to consider your request now as opposed to months ago. Abzeronow (talk) 01:33, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, about the description: I have no time for that :(
Around 7 TB of photos of Belarus from 20 years - no way to describe them all :(, its the next step - descriptions, good categories, embed to Wikidata and Wikipedia... Globustut (talk) 06:59, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is, I want to be sure there is some curation of your uploads. I can see a need to increase the rate limit, but I want to make sure it makes sense to do so. Abzeronow (talk) 05:25, 10 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The first curation is from the original Globustut, the second curation is from me (I see all photos before uploading), and the third curation - I notified the Belarus User Group about this project - to help with categories. Vitaly Zdanevich (talk) 10:52, 10 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
If Belarus User Group is involved, that would be good. Some description on files like File:029-411 Свирь, 13-11-2004.jpg would be good, since that's a somewhat generic file name with a location "Svir" and a date and it looks the ceiling of a church but more context about its importance would be good. Abzeronow (talk) 02:49, 11 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Moved this and related photos from this temp TODO category to the correct Category:Church of Saint Nicholas in Svir Vitaly Zdanevich (talk) 08:58, 11 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I am requesting autopatrol permission in order to upload new versions of and overwrite existing image files on Commons. The vast majority of my uploads/contributions on Commons are in the form of ward maps for local authority elections in England. I would like this permission so that I can replace outdated or incorrect maps without having to completely upload a new file under a different, often derivative, name. into oblivion (talk) 14:07, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am requesting autopatrol user rights because I would like to upload new copies of chemical structure images uploaded by other users. For instance, to make white background transparent for dark mode, to improve chemical structure styles and orientations, and so on. I have >1,000 edits on Commons, >350 uploads on Commons, and >100,000 edits on the English Wikipedia. Thank you. AlyInWikiWonderland (talk) 03:17, 10 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

AutoWikiBrowser access

[edit]
I have been contributing to Wikimedia Commons for more than a decade now. I have made more than 16000 edits on Commons. I have contributed in two Wiki Exploration Projects. Some of my files doesn't have GeoTags. I want AWB Rights to do mass edit my files to add GeoTags and/or rename files. I have rename rights. Thank you. Filemover

[edit]
See also: Renaming guideline.
I'm an autopatroller on WikiCommons with several meaningful contributions. My work is focused primarily on the vectorization of flags. I am an active Wikigraphist who is happy to take requests for vectorizing low-quality bitmap flags and coats of arms. As an autopatroller, I also help improve existing SVG-traced flags and files with bad vectorization in general, which often need to be renamed for harmonization purposes. Having file-moving rights would make this process easier and quicker. Thank you. Feitidede☆゚.* 16:10, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Edit count is slightly under the guideline. Rename requests look good for the most part, under 50 in total from what I can see. Abzeronow (talk) 01:25, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
the required edit count is around 1000 right? would the minimum amount of requests be 50 then? Feitidede☆゚.* 02:33, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The guideline only says "large amount of requests", 50 is not exactly a large number. (EDIT: I guess I could be flexible here) Abzeronow (talk) 02:51, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I would like to request the FileMover rights. I have been active here since over 12 months and have done about 5,0000 contributions plus several successful renaming requests. I mainly do file categorizations. It would be more convenient for me to rename files with this right. Thank you. Sàádî (talk) 14:29, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
About 20 or so renaming requests, good requests. Have you read COM:FR? Abzeronow (talk) 02:38, 11 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have. Sàádî (talk) 06:41, 11 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I would like to be able to rename BSicon files, since some uploads are misnamed. This would allow me, in accordance with BSicon nomenclature, to perform renames for such uploads. Thank you! SomeRailfan (talk) 00:19, 4 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to become a filemover. I've been active in adding various categories to to files in batch and I also sometimes want to add any relevant information to filenames, mainly to prefixes, so it's easier to understand what is pictured - sometimes the filename is just "- panoramio (3254543534).jpg". Hoping this would also improve search results on search engines when looking for something - like a rare place in the world, etc. Thank you. YeraC (talk) 15:03, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Some requests, at least one in which you tried to change the language of a file name, which is a no no. Abzeronow (talk) 02:41, 11 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I would like to request filemover rights in connection with my work organising and coordinating a university Wiki Student Club and related photography activities.
As part of the WikiClub, students and external contributors regularly donate photographs to Wikimedia Commons (e.g. from photowalks, edit-a-thons, and documentation of local events). Many of these contributors are new to Commons, and file naming mistakes (non-descriptive names, camera defaults, typos, inconsistent naming schemes, etc.) are quite common.
To keep uploads well-organised and avoid unnecessary deletion/re-uploads, the files often need to be renamed after upload to follow Commons naming conventions and project-specific naming schemes. This is expected to be a recurring need, especially as more students begin contributing images.
I understand the responsibilities that come with this right and would use it conservatively and only for maintenance purposes, primarily for files uploaded by WikiClub participants or in the context of organised educational activities.
Although my past file move count is limited, this request is forward-looking and tied to ongoing outreach and educational work rather than individual editing needs.
Thank you for your consideration. GeographieMan (talk) 19:36, 9 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I frequently perform batch edits with Visual File Change (correct license, etc.), but I have also made mistakes that are difficult to correct with Visual File Change. Thank you. Zyirkon (talk) 17:49, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
For fighting vandals like this user. Twinkle works great for me most of the times but it too has some limitations, like not being able to undo file caption (plz see revision history for reference). Thank you. Shaan SenguptaTalk 11:05, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary account IP viewer

[edit]

Hi, I'm LightandDark2000 (or BlueHypercane761 on Commons). While I primarily operate a different account on Commons (dating back to before unified global login was a thing), this is my primary global account, and I do most of my anti-vandalism work from this account as well. I already have the temporary account IP viewer permission on en.wiki and Wikidata, and I also have substantial experience dealing with vandalism both here and on en.wiki, so I know how to responsibly use the right. I've had the permission on en.wiki for about a month now, and both of my accounts have Patroller on Commons as well. I'd like to have this permission on Commons to deal more effectively with cross-wiki vandals and LTAs, particularly those with a history of IP socking. Thanks. LightandDark2000 (talk) 13:25, 16 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Could you document you multiple accounts somewhere on the user pages of these accounts? GPSLeo (talk) 12:21, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@LightandDark2000, you can use {{User Alternate Acct Name}} or related templates for this. Shaan SenguptaTalk 12:45, 18 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My accounts are already linked (on my user page, for my Commons account). I don't use a user page for my global account on Commons, since most of my non-Antivandal activity is done through my Commons account. LightandDark2000 (talk) 11:26, 21 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
